Maya Nepal up for a cause

Nirnaya Shrestha NSKWe recently witnessed a very noble program at Maya Nepal-a rehabilitation centre for Drug and HIV infected. This noble program was organized to make people aware about the condition of people who were recovering from drug addiction. The program sought to inform the mass outside the rehabilitation center about the social problems faced by the people infected with HIV and people recovering from drugs. Formally, the program’s was about “stigma and discrimination” and it sought to “encourage and inspire”.

Santosh Thapa's Safatik is out

Santosh ThapaA proficient drummer and singer Santosh Thapa came up with his innovative collection Safatik on market.  Album was released on 15 June 2008 at Celebration Pub Thamel. Rajendra Grung principal/music director of Nepal police school and secretary of music association of Nepal had inaugurated the album.

Ravi back after 5 years

For the enhancement of arrangements and composition than first compilation he took 5 years to complete his new compilation.

Guinness videos and new album

Guinness BandGuinness shot up in popularity after the release of three videos from their album “Tears”. The songs Samjhi Basnechhu’s video where the vocalist Deepesh shouts his lungs out is an impressive one. Formed originally with four members Deepesh as vocalist, Bishal as bass guitarist, Umesh on rhythm guitar and Kundan on drums due to the members going abroad and other unfavorable string of events now only Deepesh and Ramesh are left as full timers in the band. The band is supported by Deepal and Manizil. “Tears” is marketed by Maya and is available in the market.

Rocker Marcia has lots of potential

Defining music as a form of expression and her passion she also dreams to make it big in the acting domain in the future after joining a film school. Though without any formal training but her voice quality and American accent will make you listen to her songs again and again. For that you will have to wait till October or November 2008.

Piracy termite paralyzing Nepali Music

The drum resounding “Stop Piracy, Save Music” always beats at loud volumes but the problem of music piracy and selling of MP3s illegally has made the Nepali music and even movie industry paralyzed. In every interview I’ve taken when asked to tell something to the audience almost every artist repeats the cliché “Stop Piracy, Save Music” but what are they doing to put some brakes to this rising problem?

VJ Sonam a singer in the making

SonamSonam Pakhrin is the lively VJ of program dial the number which airs on NTV2 metro on weekdays. A soft spoken, unplanned but successful name in Nepali media and music domain Sonam want to be known an outstanding VJ and program producer. He stepped on this planet on May 10 at Asam, India. After his schooling in Mt. Egmont school in Darjeeling he joined Kurseong college from where he complete his bachelors in Arts/humanities in 2001 AD.
