Nepali music industry has not seen many socially active performers as
Nirnaya Shrestha. He has time and again proved that he supports
positive social change through what he does best making music and
singing. This is a lesson to be learnt by all Nepali music performers
and artists to help in building the “New Nepal” in the smallest
possible way.
We recently witnessed a very noble program at Maya Nepal-a rehabilitation centre for Drug and HIV infected. This noble program was organized to make people aware about the condition of people who were recovering from drug addiction. The program sought to inform the mass outside the rehabilitation center about the social problems faced by the people infected with HIV and people recovering from drugs. Formally, the program’s was about “stigma and discrimination” and it sought to “encourage and inspire”.
